DAY 1: Prose

A gentle breeze rustles the canopy of leaves above us, almost like a hushed, furtive whisper. I can hear the broken music of a black crow's squawk reverberating in the distance; when I point it out in childish excitement, you laugh your full, uninhibited laugh, as though you had never heard of anything funnier. It was a lucid moment passing just between us, our little secret. It was at this moment that I felt closest to you, and it was at this moment that everything else in this world seemed an inconsequential distance away.
